This is an expressionistic portrait of the Dutch journalist Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. It is the most recent one in my growing series of portraits of well-known Dutch people. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk is many times on Dutch TV in several programs about actuality and developments in music and science.

Hanneke Groenteman

2016

This portrait of Hanneke Groenteman, a famous journalist in The Netherlands, is made for a project of the atelier 'Spiegel van de Ziel' (Mirror of our Soul).  The comments of Hanneke: (free translation) I am impressed. I could never do it, but it did not give me happy feelings. Human people can not see theirselves by the eyes of other people. Also in this situation. Its clearly me, but it is not what I have in mind of myself. The confrontation makes it difficult to look at (for me).

maskerade

2016

This is a colorfull  portrait of a female dancer, ready for a show or party. The mask with 'glitter' in combination with the wonderfull colored hair is asking for attention. Palet knives are used to create the hair and classic techniques are used to get the skin parts.

Lukomir

2015

This portrait is of one of the very few people who live in the village Lukomir in Bosnie. It is fascinating to discover more and more details. Especially in her cloths and her face. The feelings about this area did get an accent via the Bosnic flowers and the Bosnic tree on the left side.
